Climate controlled storage sounds like something you may never consider getting as you think that the things that you are planning on storing would be fine in a regular storage unit. They may be true but if your items have value to you, then its worth taking a second look at them to see if climate controlled storage makes sense.
Climate controlled storage units is storage that has some control over the humidity and temperature that the unit stays at. It is not as controlled in a tight range like in your house or apartment, for example, but generally in a larger range that normally goes from ninety degrees as the high and just above freezing for the low. Not exactly living room temperatures but removing the extreme heat and cold takes a lot of stress of off stored items.
Humidity is also a stored item killer and especially in high humidity environments. Nothing can wreck your day more than going to your storage unit to get that easy chair that your great grandmother left you over ten years ago. You know for a fact that it might look a little dated with the flower print and the bright 50’s colors, but it’s going to look fantastic in your new house next to your new furniture. You slid up the steel garage door ready to grab that chair and disaster strikes. The chair of your dreams is a mold invested mess that also has bugs and eggs in it. Why? High humidity and warm weather and cloth furniture make a great place for mold to grow.
Electronics, expensive furniture, paintings, and other sensitive items will benefit from climate controlled storage so if your items have good value and will be in storage for some time, then it might be a good idea to do a little price shopping and you might see that this type of storage might be cheaper then you think.
