Things To Know Before Hiring A Locksmith

Before you run out and hire the first locksmith you see in your local area there are a few things that you should know. Many so called, self proclaimed locksmiths are no more than scam artists. They have a very limited experience with providing locksmith services and only wish to take money from you. These same con artists will try to convince you that they are an expert in their industry. There are a few things you can do to side step being conned by inexperienced fraudulent companies.

First you need to check their credentials. Are they who they say they are? Do they have proof that they were professionally trained at a trade school or an accredited locksmith school? If your locksmith cannot provide you with proof, chances are he is a fraud, operating a fraudulent locksmith company that was created to rob and scam unsuspecting clients.

Is the company you are about to hire insured? The reason why legitimate companies buy into insurance is not for you, but to protect them, and in turn their business. Fraudulent companies very seldom care about purchasing business insurance for their company because they are frauds to begin with. Never attempt to do business with a company that does not have insurance coverage, even if you feel they are competent enough to provide the services you need. If in doubt, ask to know the name of their insurance agency so that you can call and confirm insurance coverage. For example, a Costa Mesa locksmith or Bronx locksmith could claim they have insurance, but when you ask about insurance they seem hesitant or rude and then reluctantly tell you a name. This is a good indicator that the company has something to hide. Follow up with the insurance information before you commit to their services.
